THE INAUGURAL

HUSTLE 100

Hustle = play whole-heartedly

“Hustling for humanity” is playing full out for us all.

In honor of Hustlers’ 10th anniversary, we decided to launch our annual Hustle100 list.

After much consideration and deliberation, we selected the following 100 individuals and duos we feel embody what it means to hustle for humanity.

Make no mistake: No one here is perfect. Neither are those creating it! None of us are. After all, that’s what makes us human.

That said, we used the following guidelines for the list:

A Hustler for Humanity:

(1) Lives with Love
(2) Stands for Humanity
(3) Embodies Self-Reliance
(4) Catalyzes Change
(5) Innovates and Disrupts
(6) Actively Engages
(7) Is a Great Teammate
(8) Selflessly Serves Others
(9) Goes Above and Beyond
(10) Leaves it All on the Field

On this list, you’ll find: activists, advocates, artists, athletes, dreamers, pioneers, politicians, philanthropists, thought leaders, rebels, and spiritual teachers.

Each is unique in how they have leveraged their platform or voice as a powerful force for good in the world or their community, or has utilized their God-given talent to push the boundaries on what is possible for humanity.

It may be a foundation they started, a cause they fight for, the greatness they exemplify in their field, speaking for the voiceless, or standing for what they believe is right, even in the face of the scrutiny of others.

In a world that contrives to make us conform, it takes great courage to be unique, to speak the truth, to stand for your own beliefs, and to do what you know in your heart is right, even in the face of great opposition. As Waldo Emerson said,

“It is easy in the world to live
after the world’s opinion;
it is easy in solitude to live
after one’s own; but the
great man or woman is they
who in the midst of the crowd
keep with perfect sweetness
the independence of solitude.”

We take this opportunity to honor you for your hustlein life, in your field, for the planet, and for humanity. For that, we thank you, and we thank God for you!

Play on, and keep hustling!

Now, we present the inaugural HUSTLE100, listed in alphabetical order.

First, our two honorees. While the rest of us still strive, these two have arrived.

Special Honors

  • President Jimmy Carter

    Lifetime Achievement Award

At 100 years old, President Jimmy Carter is a treasure for humanity. His lifetime of service, from politics in his home state of Georgia and the White House, to more than 40 years of charity and philanthropy following his presidency exemplifies what it means to hustle for humanity.

Along with his late wife, Rosalynn, he founded the Carter Center in 1982, which has since become a globally recognized, integral peace and nation-building NGO. The Carters also became heavily involved with Habitat for Humanity in 1984, and helped it grow into one of the most impactful nonprofits, and one of the largest volunteer armies in the world.

Despite all that service, it may have been his realization that humanity and our planet was part of something galactic that became his greatest gift to humanity.

In 1977, President Carter sent a message into space along with the twin Voyager shuttles. “The Golden Records,” compiled by Carter and global colleagues including Carl Sagan, was a message of hope that expressed his belief that humanity would one day come together as one team, undivided by nations.

Thank you, Jimmy, for your willingness to see humanity as One, and our Earth as part of something bigger. Thank you for lifetime of service, your undying faith in humanity, and for holding space all these years for your call to the galaxy to be answered.

We see you, we hear you, and we thank you!

  • Kobe Bryant

    In Memoriam

Kobe defined hustle in everything he did. The only way he believed in playing was full out, whether on the court, through his art or with his family.

He called it the Mamba mentality.

Through his legendary career that brought the Lakers five championships and made him one of the world’s biggest stars, Kobe continued to show us how to keep pushing our limits, keep chasing our dreams, and keep reinventing ourselves through the art of sport and life.

No one expected him to follow his Hall of Fame basketball career by winning an Academy Award. It was his ability to dream big and to pursue greatness that was so inspirational to fans and all who knew him.

When he transitioned in 2020, it was as if a light in the world went out. It was visceral. One of us, someone who lit us and the world around us up, was gone.

Kobe’s life and his abrupt passing reminds us that time is short, and that life is happening now. The only way to play, is to play full out.

Thanks for sharing your greatness with us, Kobe. And thanks for showing us how to hustle.
