Origin Story

As kids, our parents taught us an invaluable lesson:

Life is truly about
selfless service to others. 

Our Dad demonstrated this by example when he co-founded ASC (Athletes Serving the Community). This innovative, award-winning nonprofit united student athletes in service across Greater Boston.

SB Hustlers

Upon moving to Santa Barbara, we wanted to follow in his footsteps. Starting with his concept, we leveraged decades of experience both playing and coaching team sports, while also injecting our innate zest for disruption.

Thus, SB Hustlers was born — a playful, powerful, team-based approach to community service. Our “Big Idea”, and hope, was that by uniting volunteers  across our community, we could turn life into a game we could all play together.

In 2014, we launched at the local Earth Day Festival. With a flip chart, clipboard, and Coors Light tent (sadly, no beer), we turned strangers into teammates. More than 100 people joined our movement. Our community service team was ready to play together.

We invested a decade cultivating and field-testing our unique, duplicatable, and expandable model of community volunteerism. With a playful brand and inclusive environment, we recruited more than 500 citizens to serve thousands of hours and help raise millions of dollars for good causes across the Santa Barbara community.

Our Proven Model 

Through deep experience, we discovered the “missing link” at the nexus of technology, community, and volunteerism. With a focus on empowering kids and positive mental health, our concepts have been expertly refined to match what humanity needs most.

Now,  empowered by Serve, we are scaling worldwide.
